Who we are
Becca and Mitchell are both New Mexico transplants. They met in the fall of 2020 and quickly became friends—even starting their farming journey together the very next day, when Becca helped Mitchell plant garlic at the farm he was working on at the time. They’ve planted garlic together every fall since, and in 2023 they began farming together as Yappy Dog Farm.
Buuna, our chiweenie pup, is the inspiration behind the ‘Yappy Dog’ name. Equal parts adorable face and impressively loud, ear-piercing yaps. . .
Today, Becca & Mitchell grow vegetables and flowers on about an acre in Albuquerque’s South Valley, focusing on ecological health through practices like wildlife hedgerows, pollinator plantings, and soil-building. While not certified organic, everything they grow follows organic methods.
Mitchell leads vegetable planning, and Becca leads flower planning. Josh (Becca’s partner) is the go-to for fence building, tree cutting, and small machine repair, helping keep things running smoothly—despite the many agents of farming chaos.
